Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognised training course which teaches people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health
and provide help on a first aid basis. MHFA England training will not teach you to be a therapist, but just like physical first aid, it will teach you to
listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis.
Adult MHFA England courses are for everyone aged 16 upwards. Every MHFA England course is delivered by a quality assured Instructor Member who has
attended our Instructor Training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health, and is trained to keep people safe and supported while they learn.
MHFA England training is a key component for creating a safe, healthy workplace where the mental health and physical health of employees are
valued equally. It gives people the tools to support their own mental health and that of their colleagues, and encourages them to access timely
support when needed.
But to be effective and have a sustainable impact, the training needs to be implemented as part of a strategic, whole
organisation approach to wellbeing. Supporting mental health at work means creating an environment that is psychologically safe for everyone.
Practical mental health skills and awareness training is a key component for creating a safe, healthy workplace where the mental health and
physical health of employees are valued equally. It gives people the tools to support their own mental health and that of their colleagues,
and encourages them to access timely support when needed.
Embedding Mental Health First Aid training into your organisation encourages people to talk more freely about mental health, promotes early
intervention which enables recovery, reduces stigma and creates a positive workplace culture.
Learning takes place through a mix of group activities, presentations and discussions. These courses can take place face to face or virtually
depending on the organisational needs.
We believe the most effective way to create a healthy working environment is to train people in mental health awareness and skills at a blend
of levels throughout your organisation. Every workplace is different but here is an adaptable framework that, in our experience, has the greatest
sustainable impact.
